Duke the Golden Retriever tried to pull off a little rock heist in a hilarious TikTok video, but one mention of a Greenies treat, and the owner caught him immediately. User @thegoldenpupduke shared the clip, showing Duke standing still like he is trying his best to look normal. He even wears the classic “nothing to see here” face, except the evidence sits right in his mouth — and to make it even funnier, he doesn’t budge until his owner mentions his favorite treat.

In the video, the Golden Retriever’s owner confronts him, asking, “Do you have a rock?” After a pause, she zooms in closer and tries again, asking, “Dookers, do you have a rock in your mouth?” But Duke doesn’t bark or move. Instead, he just stares back. He stands still like a statue, as if he can pretend to be inanimate to escape the interrogation.

Then the owner tries the usual bargain, asking, “Do you want a treat?” Still nothing from Duke, though — he stays locked in, determined to hold onto his “treasure.”

But the second she says the magic phrase, “Do you want a Greenies treat?,” the whole act falls apart as Duke instantly spits the rock onto the rug. And the silence after it drops says everything about the dog. Meanwhile, the caption notes the repeat offense, “The rock thief returns.”

Golden Retrievers love carrying things: sometimes it’s a toy, and sometimes it’s a rock that they found outside and decided to keep. That explains why many owners use a trade, which usually involves a treat for the object, instead of grabbing at their dog’s mouth, which can turn into a tug-of-war.

Viewers loved the hilarious interaction. One person joked, “Mam, I think he has YOU TRAINED , he brings rocks and you give him treats,” while another added, “At this point he thinks rocks are currency for greenies-”

And one viewer laughed about the Duke giving himself away, writing, “I almost spit my drink out when the rock came flying out of his mouth!!! I was not expecting that quick of a response!!” Duke may not be great at keeping secrets, but he knows what he wants — and apparently, it’s Greenies over rocks.
