Every family has that one person who turns a simple car ride into a full performance, and in this hilarious video from Instagram user @thegermanpawsquad, a dog named Willow looks utterly embarrassed with how her mom behaves in the car. And Willow, a German Shepherd, would prefer to be “dropped off anywhere else” but tolerate another second of her mom’s antics.

Mom shows how dog becomes ’embarrassed’ with her in car

In the video, the dog sits in the backseat with an “embarrassed” look on her face while her mom rides up front, wearing sunglasses and really vibing as a song plays in the car. Willow does not get it. Meanwhile, the on-screen caption explains the context: “POV: you’re feeling the song but your dog is embarrassed.”

Willow’s reaction does the rest as she stays buckled in and looks forward with the kind of serious, secondhand-cringe face that dog owners will recognize as judgment. When her mom turns around to sing in her direction, Willow gives a look that says, “Please stop. People are watching.” The video’s caption further jokes, “POV: I’m giving main character energy and Willow wants to be dropped off anywhere else.”

Of course, Willow is not actually embarrassed in the human sense, but dogs do react to sudden noise and dramatic energy, especially in a car, where they do not have the space to just walk away. Besides, German Shepherds tend to be connected to their person. Hence, when your “main character” moment includes animated singing, they often watch closely to figure out what has suddenly taken over their human. And sometimes that means wide eyes and that classic look of confusion that this owner read was Willow being embarrassed by her.

Viewers could relate to Willow. One comment probably spoke on behalf of every parent, writing, “Mission accomplished. Embarrassed the kids,” while another focused on Willow’s face, calling it “The look of confusion.” A third person joked, “Willow is like mooom, stap.” Embarrassed or not, the dog looks like she disapproves of her mom’s singing in the video, and the internet loves every moment of it.
