A dog named Comet has a lot of complaints against dad, and she tells mom all about it. The Golden Retriever from @peachycomet22’s on Instagram has the kind of face that makes you want to listen, even before she says a word, and this time, she gives her mom a full recap of the day. You see her nod, then cast an accusatory look at her dad when the story turns.

With dad sitting beside them, the video starts with mom asking the dog, “Did you have a good walk today?” Comet answers with two nods, and mom follows up with, “And you got a stick on your walk, didn’t you?” to which Comet responds by stretching her head upward, the same dramatic move she uses throughout the video as if she is trying to emphasize key points.

Mom asks, “Yeah?” then, “Really?” and Comet places a paw on dad’s knee and nods again. But then Mom gets to the real issue, asking the Golden Retriever, “Was Daddy nice to you when Mama was gone?” — and Comet stretches her head upward and backward, which Mom reads as a firm no. She asks, “No? What did he do?” and Comet lets out a small complaining sound.

Mom guesses, “He wouldn’t let you have any peanut butter again?” and Comet gives a small confirming woof, prompting mom to tease with, “We don’t like this spare human sometimes, huh?” After mom’s idea, the dog immediately turns her head to look at dad. But dad just shrugs.

The caption under the video puts dad on notice, joking, “Dad needs more training.”

Mom’s chat with this Golden felt like a real conversation, because dogs get very good at reading tone and familiar phrases, especially if complaining about dad is an option. Besides, a smart, social breed like a Golden Retriever, along with a family that talks to her as if she were part of the group, gives you someone like Comet. And Comet has ample determination to draft her complaint when the opportunity arrives.
