A black Labrador named Ollie is besties with a little girl, Ellie, and their sweet little greeting in this adorable video from @cali.and.ollie__ on Instagram says it all. But it is not just him — his sibling, chocolate Labrador Cali, is also besties with the baby. A white metal safety gate stands between Ollie and the baby, but neither one seems to mind — on the carpeted side, Ellie crawls forward when she spots Ollie. Meanwhile, on the other side, three-year-old Ollie stands waiting.

Labrador’s gentle and joyous greeting style for little girl is absolutely adorable

The black Labrador’s tail keeps wagging in a way that shows just how happy he is upon greeting the little girl. Next thing you know, Ollie has flopped down on the floor beside Cali, and both dogs peer through the bars like two extremely invested spectators. Meanwhile, Ellie crawls right up to them, undeterred by the audience.

The final shot shows Ellie pulling herself upright using one of the gate bars, clearly excited to meet her besties. Inches away, the dogs watch her with love. The caption beneath the video reads, “a girl and her labrador bestie forever ??,” and that about sums their relationship.

In the video, the Labradors are lying down and making themselves smaller, while keeping their movements deliberate, even when they are looking forward to greeting the little girl. Labs were bred to carry things gently, and that instinct has a way of bleeding into everything else they do. Hence, greeting the little human gently is only natural for the house dog.

Viewers had a great time watching their dynamic, with one writing, “The best of friends ??,” and another sharing, “My first pup was a black lab since I was 2. My heart will always belong to black labs.” And a third viewer called the Labrador besties “Best dogs on the planet (red-heart emoji).” Honestly, it does feel like a friendship that is only going to bloom for years to come.
