Bayley’s human is holding a hen in the yard, and the Golden Retriever looks completely unsure about what she’s just been shown. She edges closer, gives the bird a careful look and then starts sniffing around as if that might finally clear things up.

In the video shared by @goldengirlbayley, Bayley keeps going back for another inspection, even trying a little boop and getting close enough to sniff the hen’s beak. The whole meeting is funny because she never seems quite satisfied with what she finds.

The video opens with Bayley sitting on the grass while her human holds the hen securely. She watches for a moment, looking genuinely curious, before moving closer to see what this unexpected creature is all about. The audio adds to the comedy, starting with, “Hold on a second, is this what I think it is?” Bayley certainly seems to be asking herself the same thing.

Then comes the first little investigation. She gives the hen a quick nip before pulling her head back, only to nip again moments later. The audio jokes that the bird looks and smells like a “sweet treat,” which may explain why Bayley keeps reconsidering her options.

She tries a tiny boop, then switches to a much more serious sniff. Her nose moves over the hen’s chest, and she even gets close to the bird’s beak. At one point, Bayley appears to look directly at the hen, almost as if waiting for some kind of response. Her human keeps a hand around the bird throughout, making sure the curious introduction stays safe. Meanwhile, Bayley is clearly not ready to end her investigation.

The Golden Retriever has picked up hundreds of likes on the video, and viewers have been having plenty of fun with her reaction. One person joked by using Bayley’s POV: “Why is mom holding my dinner like that?” while another imagined joining Bayley because the bird looked like a “fun treat.” Meeting a hen has clearly given this Golden Retriever a lot to think about. Whether she ever figured out exactly what the bird was, though, remains unclear.
