Your dog’s bed can be one of the most important spots in the house, especially when it is their favorite place to nap and unwind. So, you might expect them to be a little protective when another pup settles into it. Cactus, however, had a different reaction when his foster sibling Honey took over his bed. Instead of trying to reclaim it, a video shows the rescue dog quietly giving up his spot so she could stay comfortable.

Rescue dog lets foster sibling sleep in his bed

Cactus, a rescue dog, is winning over viewers after showing an unexpectedly generous side toward Honey, a dog his owner, Mike Brown, recently welcomed as a foster. Brown was filming when he spotted Honey relaxing in Cactus’ bed. The video, shared by @cactustherescue, opens with the playful onscreen message, “Foster dog stole my dog’s bed.”

Brown approaches Honey and politely reminds her that the bed belongs to Cactus. As soon as she notices him, Honey gets up and moves away from the spot. But Brown quickly reassures her that she does not have to leave and that she is welcome to use the bed.

Cactus soon arrives to investigate the situation. Rather than objecting to Honey occupying his usual sleeping spot, he appears completely unfazed by the arrangement. Brown even asks Cactus whether he minds Honey being in his bed before deciding for him that he does not.

With Cactus apparently giving his approval, Honey returns to the bed and settles down again. Brown pets her affectionately and reassures her that she can stay there and rest. The sweetest part comes when the camera shifts toward Cactus. The resident dog is seen lying comfortably on the floor nearby. It appears that Cactus has willingly surrendered his preferred sleeping spot so his foster sibling can remain comfortable.

Brown later clarified that Honey was not actually without a bed. In the caption, he explained that she has her own bed, which he had brought into the home for her. He found Cactus’ reaction too sweet not to share, noting that Cactus was perfectly okay to let Honey use his bed and chose to lie on the floor instead.

Viewers were quick to read more into the interaction. “She was meant to be there with you and cactus … it’s so clear,” one commenter wrote. Another viewer said, “Please let Honey stay, she and Cactus seemed so connected.” Then came perhaps the most straightforward suggestion from another viewer: “You have to keep her.”
