Brittney was 18 and looking for a totally different puppy, but the video from @rescuednrowdy shows how a “dirty” rescue dog became her mom’s best friend for 15 years. Brittney actually went into the shelter looking for a male puppy. But the staff kept pointing her toward a dingy white dog sitting on a stack of newspapers.

Clearly, Diamond had decided she was going to her forever home today. Even though she looked a bit rough around the edges, one hug was all it took. Now, this senior dog has been through every version of Brittney’s life.

The clip starts with a young Brittney laughing while Diamond showers her with kisses. In another shot, the Pit Bull mix rests her chin on her owner’s face. Brittney narrates the whole thing from the beginning. The rescue worker had to convince her even to meet this girl. Diamond had bruises that people back then mistook for allergies. She even developed arthritis at only nine months old because she spent those early months locked away. But she never let it break her spirit or her love for her mom.

As we learn from the rescue dog’s mom in the video, once they got home, Diamond spent a few days hiding in her crate. Then, she decided to trust her new human, and they became, as Brittney says, “attached at the hip.”

The video shows her playing in an outdoor splash pool with her siblings. Another day, another time, the clip shows Brittney flicking her finger in Diamond’s mouth just to be annoying. But Diamond looks happiest when she is being bothered. She has been through every move and every hard season.

We even see her pawing at her owner’s arm to get her out of bed. It is a bond that just keeps going. Today, Diamond is 15 and still the center of the household. Hundreds of people are wishing her a happy birthday in the comments.

One fan noted that they were meant to be. Another viewer thanked Brittney for being the best owner for such a soulful girl. It is amazing to see her still smiling despite her long battle with arthritis. She just keeps going without complaining. The last shot shows them sharing a sweet hug and a kiss on the snout. It is a beautiful celebration of a life well lived, for both of them.
