Caring for a litter of puppies is no small task, and one tired mama named Millie appears more than grateful to accept a little help. An Instagram video shows Millie’s mother and sister taking over cuddle duty while the puppies remain perfectly content.
Mama Golden Retriever gets help from her family when she needs a break from the babies
A wholesome video shared by Instagram account @maizey_daze is winning over viewers by showing that raising puppies can truly be a family affair. The clip features Millie, a Golden Retriever who has been busy caring for her litter of puppies. Like many new mothers, however, she appears ready for a short break from her constant responsibilities. Fortunately, she does not have to handle everything on her own.
Text displayed in the video explains the adorable arrangement: “When mom needs a break… She calls her mom & sister to come help with the kids.” Stepping in are Millie’s mother, Maizey, and her sister, Tippy, who happily take over puppy duty while Millie gets a chance to relax. The pair can be seen lying beside the puppies, gently cuddling and comforting them as the little ones gather close.
Some of the puppies even appear to nuzzle against the older dogs as though they are trying to nurse. The owner later clarified that neither Maizey nor Tippy is lactating. Instead, the puppies simply seem to find comfort in the familiar behavior, especially since they are surrounded by close family members they already know and trust.
In the caption, the owner summed up that family-first approach, writing, “It takes a village…One of our favorite things about raising puppies is keeping family close.” Meanwhile, viewers loved seeing three generations of Golden Retrievers caring for the litter together. In fact, many commented on Millie’s expression as she finally got a chance to take a breather.
