This rescue dog, who left the shelter two years ago, has returned once again, this time much more terrified. A video shared by an account on Instagram shows a dog named Buddy, and their caregiver shares that he is three years old and was adopted from the shelter two years ago. They thought this would be a happy-ever-after for Buddy. However, that was not the case. Buddy is now back at the shelter and is extremely terrified, according to their caregiver, even of the human he was once close to.

This rescue dog was returned to the shelter after being adopted, and now he is terrified of the humans he once knew. The clip, shared by @cassondrachristman on Instagram, shows Buddy’s story. The caregiver shared that he was adopted from the shelter two years ago. Now that he is back again, the caregiver is confused about why he is so terrified, explaining that they don’t know whether it is because he is back at the shelter, where the environment can be noisy and overwhelming, or for some other reason. They described Buddy as a “bit flighty” when he was there before and said he weighed 60 lbs. Now, he weighs 90 lbs.

The clip shows the caregiver inside his kennel, trying to help him open up to them and feel safe. They give him treats, hoping that the dog will soon recognize them and feel safe in their presence. However, he simply sits there, staring at nothing. Buddy then slowly moves toward them and sniffs. Soon, the dog felt safe enough in their presence to lie down. He then couldn’t stop looking at them, as if he were finally recognizing their caregiver.
